  • The Orlando-Kissimmee metropolitan statistical area ranks 28th among 43 U.S. metropolitan areas in a report on America’s green cities compiled by the Business Courier of Cincinatti. The study ranks metro areas on a variety of environmental factors, including traffic congestion, transit use, water quality, carbon emissions, LEED-certified projects and number of green jobs. –March, 2010
     
  • Forbes.com ranked Orlando ninth among the nation's top 20 "most wired cities" which acknowledges cities that have the greatest access to and usage of broadband. --March, 2010
     
  • Orlando International Airport ranked highest in the large airport category in the State of Florida and one of the top four best airports in the United States in the 2010 J.D. Power and Associates North American Airport Satisfaction Study. The criteria for ranking including: airport accessibility, baggage claim, check-in, terminal facilities, security checkpoints and food and retail services. -February, 2010
     
  • Orlando's Thornton Park neighborhood was named a "Best Old House Neighborhood" by This Old House, citing Thornton Park's brick-paved, oak tree shaded streets and its restaurants, pubs, cafes and shops where locals go to kick back and relax. This Old House describes Thornton Park as a hip urban area attracting young homeowners looking for a friendly, walkable community in which to live and raise their families. - February, 2010
     
  • Orlando was named the number one spot for convention, trade show, conference and seminar meetings according to Metropoll, a national bi-annual study which surveys factors such as quality of hotel meeting and convention center facilities, destination support and image, overall value and green practices. Orlando also ranked highest on corporate planners’ top destinations list for most events. - February, 2010
     
  • The 2009 Zagat Airline Survey named Orlando International Airport as one of the top five airports nationwide for overall airport quality. -November, 2009
     
  • Forbes.com ranks Orlando 35th on their list of America’s Safest Cities.

  • The Sporting News has ranked Orlando 27th in its 16th annual "Best Sports Cities" rankings which features 399 cities and towns across the United States and Canada. Rankings were based on each city's number of teams, regular season records, playoff berths, bowl appearances and fan fervor among other things. - October 2009
     
  • U.S. News & World Report's 2010 "America's Best Colleges" guide named the University of Central Florida as a top 5 national university to watch. UCF, which ranked No. 7 on the list last year, is the only Florida school listed in the category "Top Up-and-Coming Schools." - August 2009
